Hi, I'm Xbexster.

I've been a regular visitor to the Whitby Goth Weekend for over a decade. Long-time WGW attendees may remember The Resolution and the incredible nights that used to take place there in the early days; before the basement bar became bedrooms, then a bar again, and before the upstairs became primarily a restaurant.

When those changes happened, for me Whitby lost one of its hidden gems. Since then, I've never quite found a suitable replacement, either in Whitby or here in Nottingham.

After years of searching, I decided that if I couldn't find the sort of night I wanted to attend, I'd create one myself.

Welcome to Obsidian – Night One.

My aim is to create an evening that captures some of the same multi-goth atmosphere that The Resolution once had. A place where traditional goth, gothic rock, alternative, industrial, EBM and cyber goth can comfortably exist under one roof.

I'm trying to create a Blade Runner-esque environment wrapped in a dark alternative soundtrack, where people can relax, socialise and enjoy the vibe.

This event is completely free to attend. I'm not making any money from it; in fact, it's costing me to put on. But Obsidian isn't about money.

It's about good people, good music and the social connections that so many of us value.

No gimmicks. No fashion police. Wear what you want. Enjoy the vibe.
